Brother Printer Ink??

Hey, I have a questions about my printer. I have a brother MFC 210 and when I click to see the ink volume, it says there's plenty left! 2, or 3 bars left of the + sign. 5 bars to the right of the - sign for all of the colors, Black, R, Y, B. How do I get the maximum ink out of my cartridge? I've only used the black ink for three months and it seems to be running out.Brother Printer Ink??
The best way to save with this printer is to unplug it after use. Consider printing everything needed at one time since the brother is the only printer that uses the continuous cleaning method instead of the wipe method. The brother method cleans our wallets while it is cleaning the machine. In other words, periodically whether the printer has been used or not, it goes into a cleaning mode and each time it cleans it siphons out ink.

One other option - Well, I played around with it for a bit and found something which works -- sometimes.

If you take the Brother ink cartridges (mine is a 5840CN) and tip them sideways so the ink rests on the ';window'; side (which the machine views to know how much is left). Hold it there for a few seconds and then install the cartridge and close the machine quickly it will SOMETIMES be tricked into thinking the cartridge is full. But only sometimes. Sometimes shaking the cartridge a bit (so the ink is full of bubbles) works, but I don't like that method in case it gets air into the print head. And again, it doesn't work all the time.

Ink printers use up some ink just in idle mode. If ink wasnt constantly flowing to the heads, the ink which always remains on the heads after printing would dry up and the printer would become useless. But the cartridges are only $3 or $4. If you get 3 months use out of it, that's pretty good.
