if its a Dotmatrix, check its ribbon


if its a laser, check its toner.

Of course you can, just go to printer settings and check it on the ink indicator of your printer if you have an ink or running out of ink. If your ink runs out the indicator LED of your printer will blink.
I just pop out the ink cartridge and touch it to my tongue. Then go check a mirror, and I know immediately! My tongue doesn't lie.
