Home printer that does not use ink like it is going out of fashion.?

Q: What home printer is both practical and would suit my own purpose for making cards and letter writing and for downloading info I wish to keep on file.

I have an Epson stylus DX3800 would I be better off with a laser printer?Home printer that does not use ink like it is going out of fashion.?
Companies almost give printers away, because of the huge profits they make on ink. As you have just found out!!

Before buying any printer, whether laser or not, you should check on the various comparison websites to see what the ink consumption is.Home printer that does not use ink like it is going out of fashion.?
Unless you like spending good money buying expensive inkjet cartridges, if I were in your shoes I would simply look for an older Hewlett Packard (HP) Laserjet Printer like one from the HP Laserjet 4 or 5 series, HP 2100 or 2200 series etc. As you know the print quality for any papers or documents you have to submit is TERRIFIC and all the drivers are still readily availble on-line for download.

Like someone else suggest I actually saw some GOOD WORKHORSE HP LASERJET 4 printers on sale for $12.00 on CRAIGLIST which caught me by surprise me...since I personally own like 4 Hewlett Packard black %26amp; white HP Laserjets that I paid from a free-gift away, $35, $65 and like $1,500 %26lt;= years ago brand new.

Naturally I don't need any more but where I saw it was on my local CRAIGSLIST under the FOR SALE category then COMPUTERS. What happened was Seller bought a huge lot of commercial HP Laserjet printers on few pallets and simply did not have storage.

Just be PATIENT if you didn't see any under a wildcard search or maybe POST YOUR OWN CL Inquiry in 2 places under WANTED and COMPUTERS but most likely all you will attract is people dumping inkjet printers.

EBAY COMPUTERs might be another Good Buy to find a good laserjet printer, but do yourself a favor and SEARCH BY CLOSEST DISTANCE bec S%26amp;H will certainly be costly. Also genuine unopened HP toner lasts forever and never dries up, and with patience can be bought for like $25 or more and one toner catridge can easily last a full year.

On last word of caution in view that we also own 3 DELL Notebook PCs, two which are fairly new that DELL and HP did away from the parallel port on all the newer Notebook PCs so if you buy one of these workhorse HP Laserjets, msot likely you will also have to purchase a BELKIN USB to Parallel Cable Adapter and also check to make sure the USB port on your PC is setup/installed correctly in the CONTROL PANEL Hardware Devices...This probably would not apply to Desktop PCs as long as it still has parallel port.

Hope the Above Info Helps!
Laser printers are quicker but way more expensive... It really depends what you want to do with it... Photos and stuff - inkjet ... documents ... laser.
hey, if depends all on what you do, you can buy a small home laser printer, and you need to buy a new cartridge for that lyk every ten yrs. and you can buy a small phto printer, for phtos and imaging, also to print photos, i think your better off going to a photo shop and going to a machine where you take your own media and does it all ur self
