How do you clean your printer's ink?

i have an Hp photosmart 4100 and for some reason the end of the photo is printing with a weird tint. I dont think Im out of ink cause the first half of the photo prints fine but the second half seems to fade into red or purple. i just want to know how to get to the menu where you can clean your printer cartridgeHow do you clean your printer's ink?
the cartridge could be blocked, if you dont use it once a week they can dry out a bit and this can happen.


take out the cartridge and wipe it on some kitchen roll, then dab it to see if the 3 colours show clearly (blue yellow and pink) yellow can sometimes look a bit orangey, but it shouldnt be too bad.


if no inks coming out the cartridge may be really blocked or ran out of ink (never trust what the pc says about the levels, it can say theyre empty but theyre still half full, and vice versa)


there usually is a cleaning feature in printers, but it wastes a load of ink (can get through a whole cartridge) so try that first, and also look at where it slots in to make sure theres not dried ink in the way.How do you clean your printer's ink?
