Printer ink cartridges?

Now i already know that companies make more money out of ink cartridges than they do on printers but my dad debated with me over the fact that ink cartridges in new printers only have half the ink that separately sold ink cartridges have. What do you think?Printer ink cartridges?
He's probably right. They ';give'; you smaller cartridges, but for new ones, you're better off buying the largest ones.Printer ink cartridges?
I dont know about other companies but Epson only gives you 12ml in their regular cartridges. They cant possibly give only 6 in the ones which come with the printer. Considering that the ink cost them pennies to begin with, it isn't worth their expense to make two different types of cartridges just to save a few cents on the ink.

My experience of over 20 years in computer hardware leads me to believe this is a myth. It comes from laser printers because it is a fact that most lasers come with starter cartridges. That's because laser cartridges typically printer a few thousand pages so the first cartridge only has enough for half.

I also know that when you first put in printer cartridges, some of the ink goes to fill the printer reservoir. When you put in the replacements, that reservoir is already filled. So it seems as if the first set gave you less ink. But I have client who insist on only using Epson ink despite the cost. So when one of my clients who doesnt really care buys a new printer, I suggest he sell the genuine cartridges to someone who insists on them and then buy cheaper compatibles. I have observed a few times that the cartridges which came with the printer did not get used up any faster than the ones bought at the store.

I also know that most compatibles give you more ink than the name brand. The ones I buy at http://ccs-digital.com for under $3 each give 66% more ink than Epson (20 ml).
Absolutely true. It even says so in the box. That is done on purpose so when you buy the printer you run out soon so you ';have'; to buy new ones. I recommend that you refill the ink cartridges its cheaper and you can refill them up to three times.
