.....considering how much OUTPUT you get for your financial INPUT? I,ve just had to pay 拢30 for a black and a tri-colour cartridge in a ';buy one,..get one half price!'; deal.Do you think that printer ink cartridges are a monumental rip off?...?
yes indeed totally agree! but you can get them re-filled once they are empty - try cartridgeworld!Do you think that printer ink cartridges are a monumental rip off?...?
Absolutely. Do you realize that printer ink bought by the cartridge works out to over $5,000 a gallon? And you thought gas was expensive! Fortunately, there are compatible cartridges which still work despite the printer companies' attempts to prevent this.
I recommend Epson cx series scanner/printer/copiers (cx7400/cx8400) because of the print quality and the warranty. For a year Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. Ink cartridges are expensive, but you can get cheap replacements for $5 which work well here http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp
You can find the printers at buy.com, usually in the $60-$70 range BEFORE any rebates.
You are right if you go for manufacturers recommened cartridges. Especially when the chipped ones tell you they are empty when they are still a third full.
I have an epson cx3600, i get a full set of cartridges for 拢9.99 and i have a chip re-setter so when it says the cartridges are empty i use the re-setter so i can use the full cartridge capacity. Re-setter was 拢7.99
I totally agree with you i used to have a Lexmark printer/scanner cartridges were very expensive got rid of the printer (scanner was excellent though had OCR program built in software)
Went to an Epson printer scanner DX3600 model takes 4 cartridges 1black/3 colour
Purchase copy cartridges off e-bay for about 拢1 each work fine no problems over few years of ownership of printer.
Go for Epson every time there inks are always cheaper!
Kodak is trying to address this issue, however their support system and drivers are probably worse than ***ANY*** other printer manufacturer in the industry, bar none.
I would highly recommend avoiding Kodak printers at all costs... At the moment they only support a very limited number of operating systems, and even after more than a YEAR, they do not yet have ANY kind of support for Linux even though the linux community has offered to produce the drivers FREE for them, if they would only supply the specs needed to write the drivers. They are obviously either completely incompetent, idiots, or being paid by Microsoft not to release linux drivers. I wouldn't trust them a bit at this point... supposedly linux drivers have been in the works for over a year... and who knows if they will ever get it right (Or windows 2000, and who knows if they'll EVER support the next version of windows, or shared printing...)
Stay away from them and go for a good printer that has decent after-market cartridges available for them. Many Epson/Canon printers have good after-market inks available, since thier print heads are not integrated into the cartridges themselves.
I agree with Longjohn. The price of the printer is what entices you to buy it, then you discover that you pay an incredible amount of money to keep it going with ink cartridges. I would rather pay more for a decent printer and pay less, in the long term, for ink cartridges.
without a doubt. so what you need to do is buy a laser printer they last for 5,000 pages.. black only... and the cost for the toner is around the same price of on black ink cartrage...
what needs to be done is get every one together and complain to the governments fair trade department
The printers are cheap so they make vast sums of profit on the inks. It has always been that way and the more obscure the printers the less chance of realistic priced replacement cartridges.
No because I get mine from
http://www.inkclub.com/index.asp?...
How so correct you are, i can not believe the price is justified.
A stitch up, i think.
I buy mine in Tesco 拢21 for 4, so I don't think that's too bad. It's an Epson printer btw.
Almost better to by a new printer I have seen them for as much as you paid for your cartridge
Yes they work out more than the Printer costs ,,They should throw the printer in for Free,,,
definately! they're way too expensive! poeple should make them cheaper - not everyone that owns a printer is made of money!
I blame GMP !
