Is this a scam or what? I like the machine other than it magically makes ink Im not using disappear. HP has lost my business and I will never buy anything from them again.I am fed up with my HP 5180 printer. Its crap. It uses other ink cartridges even when its set to just black.
Do you like the print quality? The 6 ink cartridges are actually the best for printing photos. Do you turn your printer off. Every time you turn your printer off and then back on again, you hear all that noise. That noise is the ink cartridges recharging and it actually uses ink to do that. My suggestion is DO NOT TURN IT OFF. Also since you have a permanent fixed print-head, it will use a little color in the ink reservoir. The reason for this is that if the ink in the print-head dried up, it would clog the print-head and you would be using a lot more ink to clean the print-head. The other reason it may seem like you are using a lot of ink, is because the 02 Vivera inks each have a different amount of ink in each cartridge. The cyan has 3.5 ml, magenta has 4.0 ml, yellow has 6.0 ml, light cyan and light magenta (only used for photo printing) have 5.5 ml and black has a normal ink cartridge standard at 11 ml. So it may just seem like you are going through alot of ink because there is not very much ink in them. GOOD marketing approach. Make the ink cartridges all the same size but fill them with different amounts of ink.I am fed up with my HP 5180 printer. Its crap. It uses other ink cartridges even when its set to just black.
I've never been a huge fan of HP printers either. The replacement ink cartridges are typically more expensive than other brands, and generally contain less ink than most. If you are printing in black a lot, I'd suggest a laser printer. Costs have come down a lot, and the quality of the print is better.
